For a seventh time, CBRC member Gina Mannion will be participating in the National Down Syndrome Society's Run for 3.21!

Gina and her husband have four children, and their oldest daughter, Maeve, has Down syndrome. Maeve is the reason she is out there running all the miles, all the time! Many of you are familiar with Maeve and her siblings, as they are often at the races running or being the best cheerleaders in the ‘Burg!

Gina became actively involved with NDSS seven years ago, as a founding member of the NDSS Athlete Ambassador Team, and she has been active in the special needs community since Maeve was born.

Gina has run the East Coast Run for 3.21 five times and is now heading back West to run the Speed Project Course for a 2nd time, running from Santa Monica, California and ending in Las Vegas, Nevada!

Since 2019, Gina has run over 300 miles during the Run for 3.21 relays! And she has raised almost $50,000!!!

A big part of the National Down Syndrome Society’s Run for 3.21 is fundraising. All funds raised go directly back to help serve those individuals with Down syndrome providing support in education, the workplace, medical services, community acceptance and policy making in DC.

To boost her fundraising, Gina decided to try her hand at feeding hungry runners after a long, cold, training run – and the "Pierogi Run" came to be! Gina makes all the pierogi herself and has been making them with her great-grandmother's recipe since she was a kid. "Babci Jadwiga" immigrated from Poalnd, so these are the real deal!

In addition to ready-to-eat or frozen-to-go pierogies, the Mannion kids will be selling Gina’s almost famous cookies! There will be great raffle items and new this year, Maeve will have handmade “Swiftie” bracelets celebrating friendship, running and inclusion. Gina is also hoping to have some special guests in attendance!

If you can't make it out to the training run on the 24th, but still want to support Gina's efforts, you can make a donation directly Company matching gifts are available as well!

All proceeds go to her fundraising for Run for 3.21. Each athlete has a minimum goal of $5000 and a team goal of $100,000.
