Meet CBRC Charity Runners

Rachael Waller
World Vision
Goal: $25,000
Race: London Marathon | April 27
This will be my 7th marathon with World vision! World Vision raises money for clean water wells all over the world. To me, clean water seems like a basic human right and it is a solvable problem. We know how to get clean water for people. The only obstacle is money. It’s my desire for families, women and children to be free to be well and be educated because they do not spend their days walking to collect dirty water. It is my desire that women will never again have to collect dirty water to deliver their babies. 17 years ago, 1.2 billion people were without clean water. Today 700 million people are without clean water. We are making a difference!

Denise Clapper
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Goal: $1000
Race: Pittsburgh Marathon | May 4
My favorite part of the Pittsburgh marathon is participating in the run for a reason charity program. This adds a greater purpose to my training and helps to raise awareness for people living with CF.
Cystic fibrosis is a rare, genetic disease found in 40,000 people in the U.S. causing persistent lung infections and limiting the ability to breathe over time.
I chose the CF Foundation because my first job as a nurse was caring for patients with CF. I witnessed firsthand their everyday struggles such as, struggling to breathe while walking down the hall and not being able to be around friends or family for fear of being exposed to something that could potentially be fatal.
The patients I cared for were only in their 20s-30s and struggled every day to live a normal life.
These patients taught me how to fight for what is important in life and to never take anything for granted.
By joining the Breathe Team, my goals are to help raise awareness and to raise money to help find a cure.

Carly Tanney
World Vision
Goal: $3,000
Race: Chicago Marathon | October 12
I'm running with Team World Vision to help provide life-changing clean water to children and communities in the developing world.
More than 800 children under age 5 die every day from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and improper hygiene. But we believe the global water and sanitation crisis can be solved within our lifetimes.
I will be selling CBRC bracelets at Saturday runs for $5.00.

Lara Ervin
Arthritis Foundation
Goal: $1,500
Race: Chicago Marathon | October 12
I’m running the 2025 BoA Chicago Marathon as a charity runner with Team Joints in Motion for the Arthritis Foundation. My fundraising goal is $1,500. I’m absolutely thrilled for this opportunity to run in one of my favorite cities!
I chose this charity because as I work in a Rheumatology practice, it raises awareness of the very many forms of arthritis and how they affect you physically, emotionally and financially. The money raised will assist with getting the patients care and support they need. I’m grateful my body still allows me to do what I can do! Very grateful to support this foundation and run for those who can no longer do so!!

Chris Ervin
Homes For Our Troops
Goal: $1,500
Race: Chicago Marathon | October 12
I’ve decided that the 2025 BoA Chicago Marathon will be my last full marathon.
I’ve chosen to run with Homes for our Troops in honor of my late father, who served our country. Also to help raise awareness of the many Veterans who have served post 9/11 that are in need of a place to live after being severely injured.
The money raised will help go to adaptable homes.

Lauren Ricci
The Mario Lemieux Foundation
Goal: $500
Race: Pittsburgh Marathon | May 4
I am Running for a Reason yet again but this time for non other than The Mario Lemieux Foundation. We all know and love Mario and you all have been amazing the past 2 years in helping me reach my goal. So please consider helping me reach my goal for such an amazing charity in our community.

Anne Daymut
Urban Impact Foundation
Goal: $1000
Race: Pittsburgh Mar1athon | May 4
I live on the North Side and this is an awesome organization. Urban Impact is changing lives everyday through its ministry, programs, and events.
I have been running my whole life, but this is only my second marathon. Running with and fundraising for Urban Impact has renewed my love for running and made me feel like part of a community.

Aislin Shannon
World Vision
Goal: $3,000
Race: Chicago Marathon | October 12
Team World Vision is the largest non-governmental provider of clean water in the world. They have provided over 3.4 million people with access to clean water. Like me, they believe in the children in the world! As a teacher I do everything to make sure that my students are safe and healthy! By donating you can sponsor a child. Team World Vision helps ensure that children have better health, improved nutrition, and can go to school instead of traveling to fetch water for their families.
To fundraiser, I am completing pet portraits! Feel free to reach out to me at any run or on Facebook to see my work or order one!

Julia Concolino
British Heart Foundation
Goal: £750
Race: Paris Marathon | April 13
I’m raising money for the British Heart Foundation, a cause that’s become even more personal to me since I was recently diagnosed with a heart condition called cardioinhibitory response. The BHF has made incredible strides in reducing the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease, but sadly, hundreds of lives are still lost every day. Their research is critical to finding new treatments and cures, and with your support, we can help them continue this life-saving work.

Dave Dawgiello
Alzheimer's Association
Goal: $1600
Race: Pittsburgh Half Marathon | May 4
10 years ago my Mother passed away after suffering the ravages of Alzheimer's Disease. 2 years ago my Mother-in-Law was diagnosed with this disease and is slowly slipping further into a shell of who she once was. Although my original intent was to celebrate my 70th birthday on May 4th running my first Marathon, I am thankful that I will still be able to walk the back half marathon to honor these too fine ladies in my life! Every day we are closer to understanding and treating this disease that has an effect on someone related to you, someone you know, or someone you love. So I am asking all of you, no matter the amount, to help me celebrate my monumental birthday by donating to Alzheimer's Association and to honor Clara and Marian.

Graciela Auil
Rush to Crush Cancer
Race: Rush to Crush Cancer | May 18
I’m the captain of SHY PharmaCYCLISTs. We ride bikes to raise money for RUSH TO CRUSH cancer, a fundraising to support Hillman cancer research.
I have arranged for an ice cream truck to be at the run on May 17 - all proceess will benefit my charity.

Claire Thomas
National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Goal: $3,000
Race: Chicago Marathon | October 12
I chose the MS Society as my charity because of the profound impact it had on my grandfather’s life during his journey with multiple sclerosis. Their resources and support made a significant difference in his quality of life. Fundraising for the MS Society is my way of honoring his memory and ensuring others receive the same vital support.
I will be selling tickets at Saturday runs for raffles baskets in April. I will award the winners at our run on April 26.

Grasiele Kane
Dana-Farber
Goal: $12,000
Race: Boston Marathon | April 21
Many of you may know someone who had or has cancer. I have lost loved ones and seen family members fight this terrible disease. This is personal; my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last December, and she's about to start her battle with cancer.
My goal is to run my final marathon in Boston and, at the same time, achieve my donation goal of $12,000 for this meaningful cause, and that is only possible with your help!
